| Breaking News | | Monday, September 26th, 2033: Premier Batter Named by Sub League 2
The SION Baseball Writers Association will host its annual awards dinner this weekend and will honor the outstanding achievers for the just-completed season. One of those honorees will be 33-year-old Takejiro Oyama of the Pittsburgh Pirates. This year he has been named the Sub League 2 Outstanding Hitter Award for 2033.
The Pittsburgh first baseman ended the year with a .365 batting average, 154 hits, 16 home runs, 103 RBIs, .447 OBP and scored 78 times.

 | Sunday, September 4th, 2033: Reds Shut Out Pirates, Snell Winner
Cincinnati's Blake Snell breezed through the Pirates lineup today, collecting a 6-hit shutout and a 4-0 victory along the way. Snell fanned 5 as well.
"I didn't really feel like I had my game today," Snell confessed, "but some days are like that -- you just gotta go with what you have."
In 25 starts this season Snell has rung up a 6-11 record and a 5.36 ERA.

| Thursday, August 18th, 2033: Pirates Rich to Miss 2 Weeks
The Pittsburgh Pirates will have to make do without Ryan Rich for 2 weeks. He suffered a fractured foot while running the bases in the game today against the Chicago Cubs. His teammates, understandably, were upset about losing the right fielder. "That's a tough break for him," one of them said. "But this team is resilient. We will just fill in until he gets back." Rich will miss 2 weeks.
This year Rich is hitting .330 with no home runs and 52 RBIs to his credit. He has gotten on base at a .438 clip and scored 112 runs.
