Breaking News | | Monday, September 26th, 2022: Porter Belts 3 HR Against Atlanta! Ben Porter of the Pittsburgh Pirates had a lot to celebrate in today's 10-7 win over the Atlanta Braves. Three times he celebrated by pounding the ball out of Three Rivers Stadium.
He kiddingly told reporters after the game, "Hopefully, I can continue to close my eyes and swing as hard as I can. It worked well today."
The powerful Pittsburgh right fielder tagged 3 hits in 5 at-bats, drove in 4 runs, and scored 3 times in his three-home-run outburst.
Porter added, "Seriously, I just try to swing early and often to give myself a chance. I let the pitcher supply all the power, I just try to figure out how to get the bat on the ball."
"We talked about changing our strategy for the third one...and then he hit another homer," the Atlanta manager said. "We just couldn't get him out."
B. Porter hit a two-run home run off J. Sánchez in the 3rd, hit a solo-shot off J. Sánchez in the 5th, struck out in the 6th, hit a solo-shot off T. Kahnle in the 8th and flied out in the 9th.
